My name is Karla, I am 25 years old and I work as a social worker. I completed my Master’s degree in Social Work in 2024 at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, and since then I have been working in my profession, on a daily basis with children and families. Through both my education and professional experience, I have gained a strong understanding of children’s development, emotions, behaviour and needs, as well as the equally important skill of being a stable and supportive adult for a child.

I have been working with children since my high school years. I volunteered at the Maestral Children’s Home in Split, and for the past three years I have also been volunteering in an association that provides learning and developmental support for children. Through this experience I learned how important it is for children to be heard, understood and encouraged, rather than rushed or compared to others. With younger children I enjoy using play, stories and creative activities to support motor skills and imagination, while with older children I focus on schoolwork as well as conversation, because I believe emotional security is just as important as good grades.

In my work with children I always see each child as an individual, with their own feelings, pace and way of experiencing the world. I make an effort to understand their perspective, what lies behind their behaviour, and to help them feel accepted and safe.
I work from Monday to Friday until 3 p.m., which means I am available in the afternoons during the week as well as on weekends. This allows me to be flexible and adjust to a family’s needs, whether it is occasional babysitting, evening care or regular weekly arrangements.

Hrvatski jezik mi je materinji o kojem imam visoku razinu znanja što se tiče gramatike i književnosti. Engleski jezik učim cijeli život i imam položenu B2 razinu. Također imam položeni akademski engleski tako da sam vješta s vokabularom, izgovorom i razumijevanjem te s lakoćom pričam navedeni jezik. Talijanski jezik sam učila kroz osnovnu i srednju školu te znam osnove. Razumijem ga skroz i znam gramatiku, međutim nemam dovoljno vokabulara ni vježbe da se mogu sporazumijeti.
