Isto kao prema ljudima, sa životinjama treba imati strpljenja, nježnosti ali i odgovornosti. Važno je upoznati njihove navike i potrebe. Šetnja sa psom također je dobra za fizičku aktivnost ali i mentali dobrinos sreći. Pazila bih da imaju redovite obroke, svježu vodu i higijenu ali i da dobiju dovoljno ljubavi i pažnje.

Važno mi je znati kakav je pas po naravi, da li je miran, razigran ili osjetljiv te pokazuje li znakove agresije, jer ne želim čuvati agresivnog psa. Također ima li određeno vrijeme kada ga se mora nahranuti i voditi u šetnju. Slaže li se sa drugim životinjama te ima li kakvih zdravstvenih problema ili alergija? Nešto sto ga posebno veseli ili smiruje? Sve ove informacije ostvarile bi bolji pristup prema samom čuvanju.
